The New Year isn’t the only time to start new things or new goals but its a good place to start! So I’ve put a few tips together that would start your year on the right foot to better not just your year but your life.

Top Four Habits To Start In The New Year

I know its has become a common past time to stare at your phone laying in bed before you set your alarm and actually sleep. I myself am guilty of this and found myself countless times looking forward to just laying in bed and scrolling. However, it’s a habit I’m trying to break and you should to.

You may think its is your relaxing, end of the day activity that helps you to wind down and prepares you to sleep. But in fact it does the complete opposite! Staring at your screen before bed actually tells your brain that it’s not time for bed yet! Break that bad habit with me and start putting your phone away, pick up a good novel to read instead; I’m currently reading You are a Badass by Jen Sincero

Instead of having the goal to just ” drink more water” like most of us always promising ourselves; you need to build the habit of drinking the actual amount you need every single day! Drinking water on a daily basic as we all know helps to flush out toxins out of the body, it’s great for our skin, hair and nails and overall health.

Did you know that a lot of the times if you are feeling hungry you actually might just be thirsty? I believe that water is the glue that holds everything together, If you are not drinking the amount you should be drinking, you might be doing more harm then you think! Start the habit now so it sticks with you for life and find a way that will help you to drink more, whether it’s a cute water bottle or an alarm whatever works. As must as I hate, it had to be said; it is a habit that needs to be made in your life and the sooner you do it the better you will be for it. Just like water, exercise literally effects positively everything in your body, mentally and physically. I’m turning 30 this year and my metabolism isn’t getting any faster and recently I’ve learned about the Kaizen Technique (or the one-minute principle) it means you shouldn’t change your life spontaneously but slowly and wisely. Kaizen originated in Japan that basically helps you form a habit from just practicing to do something one minute at a time of day you choose. So for example if I decide to do push-ups for one minute at 5pm everyday it will slowly become a routine that I will be able to do with ease and not feel the pressure of exercising, and before I you know it you will be doing a fifteen to twenty-minute workout! Now a days we get distracted so easily, with Social Medias, Netflix, the Karaoke machine, seriously that thing is so addicting. If you are in that awkward stage where you are trying to figure out what your purpose is in this world you wont find that if your constantly watching Games of Thrones or whatever trending show is on.

This last year I taken the time to read more motivation novels and it has served me well. Take an hour before bed and instead of scrolling pick up a real live book to read there is nothing like touching and the sound of the pages. Even better the Bible, if you have self-doubt, or thinking anything negative, there is a verse for each problem in the bible that will drive those negative thoughts out! Reading gives you something that a lot of other mediums cant and unlike scrolling before bed, it actually does relax you.

So there is my knowledge that I have pass onto you, you don’t have to do all of this at once remember the Kaizen Technique (slowing and wisely) and you will see drastically amazing results from it.
